Typically, during the summer months where the heat in parts of the country can be stifling, its difficult to have functions outside and to stay comfortable. However, its always mind over matter so one can “create” that feeling of being in a more moderate climate. Adorn your patio, veranda, loggia, or any outdoor space you use to entertain with beautiful sheer and very colorful fabric panels, cool lighting, canopies to diffuse and shield the heat and bright tables. As the sun sets you may catch periods of a slight breeze to cool off a bit. With the sheer fabric panels hanging the breeze makes them look flowy, the lights emitted by the lanterns are sparkly, and with cold beverages in hand and a luscious light menu of salads, veggies and fruits one feels suddenly refreshed and comfortable.
In Every Corner has all that you need to create that lovely space I just described. We have Moroccan lanterns that are perfect for the outdoors, beautiful sheer & beaded curtain panels from India, and colorful benches and tables to make “Alfresco” dining a pleasureable experience.
Mirror, mirror on the Wall…
Monday, May 10th, 2010
Often we get asked questions about mirrors in general. Round? Oval? Square? Rectangular? Ahh yes, also lets not forget those less common shaped ones like hexagonal, octagonal, diamond shaped, etc…you see what I mean? The possibilities are endless! In addition should I choose a wooden frame, glass, metal, resin? Traditional? Modern? Ethnic? Contemporary? An antique? A flea market find? It sure gets confusing. The most important thing is loving it! Period.
When selecting a mirror think about where you’re going to place it. Above a buffet cabinet? An entrance? Over a sofa? In a bedroom above a vanity? On the ceiling above the bed?…we won’t go there, big lol! Hallways? Be sure that regardless of the shape you eventually choose the proportion is right. You’ll know it just by playing around with ones you may already have just sitting in storage, lol. (My hubby was amazed at how many we had collected over the years after we recently did a massive cleanout of our storage space!) I love utilizing large mirrors in small spaces. It creates not only drama but makes a small room look much larger. Always have the mirror reflect or capture an object or multiple pieces that are very refractile and colorful. This brightens your surroundings naturally. The interaction of a mirror with beautiful things is aways a good thing. Not to mention checking ourselves out once in a while, lol! Well, for some people, several times a day!
So, walk around your home, assess the “dead” zones, especially ample wall spaces that may require a finished or complete look. It is also not necessary to hang mirrors on the wall all the time. What we do in the store often is place them atop a large cabinet or console and lean them against the wall so it softens the total surface and sort of free floats on its own. We flank them with candle pillars, suspend really cool Moroccan lanterns in front of them to reflect more light, table lamps, vases with fresh flowers, and a plethora of all things from “in every corner” of the world. Trying to hang a mirror on the wall can be a challenge if the mirror is very heavy and it eliminates holes ( in my case, big holes) in the wall especially when you’re trying to hoist and carry one by yourself! Did you know that most handymen or guys and gals who do odd jobs around your town will help you hang up your mirrors and artwork for a very nominal fee? Trust me, its worth it especially if the mirror is oversized and weighs too much. They have all the nuts and bolts and things that you may not have to get the job done. Well, pardon me, but its time to powder my face and touch up my lipstick…walking right now to my favorite mirror in the store:-)) Until next
time..D.
Spring is Here!
Monday, April 5th, 2010Hey Everyone! I know, I know, its been awhile but we’ve been very busy lately taking care of a multitude of things we’ve been putting off all
winter long. So, as the old saying goes,” spring
cleaning” here we go…. done.
Here in Las Vegas, NV, this is perhaps the best time of the year with the temperatures in the 70’s throughout April. Now, as I type this, if only that darn wind would stop blowing already! My allergies are dragging me down and I’m into my 2nd box of tissues now, lol.
I attached a picture of one of our benches we are previewing now in the store. It so adorable; its called the “butterfly” bench and comes in several Spring colors like the blue shown as well as green, red, purple, and yellow. It is made of a strong and durable metal that can weather the outdoor elements. Add colorful pillows and a seat cushion and you’ve got instant seating outside in your patio or garden. Its a great bench to just sit outside on while sipping a cup of tea, coffee or your favorite drink:-).
Shown here is a grouping of fabulous Moroccan tea glasses that are perfect for serving the country’s famous mint tea. Think of creative ways to brighten up your outdoor sanctuary by scattering these glasses all around areas where you’re entertaining your guests. The brass tray top table (shown above) is the perfect thing to place these tea glasses on too. The brass has an etched appearance as shown in the inset and lends to a global inspired motif. If you’re ever in the area, please stop in anytime and say ‘hi” and browse around our store. Right now, we’re taking orders for these items and from now until April 20th if you mention In Every Corner’s blog, we’ll take an additional 20% off the regular price. Call us at 702-254-0077 for the regular prices of these items featured. Until next time…..D.
THE “CHILL OUT” FACTOR
Monday, March 1st, 2010
Hey Everyone!!
Well, we’re back from a long and well deserved vacation! As we traveled around, one of the things that I paid attention to was the sound of water and it seems like everywhere we went, you could hear the sounds of trickling water or random splashes whether it be from a nearby lake, river, ocean, or even inside one’s home, place of business or a restaurant. As a water sign, these sounds would always put me in a calming mood, lol, as vacations can be quite hectic and tiring especially during the last phases.
I want to share with you what we offer in our store. Take a look at these wall fountains. In person, they are breathtaking and everyone that walks into the store stops dead in their tracks to compliment its features especially the sounds of the water running off from the marble and slate. With the fountains on, the music going, and a candle or two burning, it immediately puts people in a chill out state. They say to me how peaceful and rested they suddenly feel during their busy days. Children are especially mesmerized by the look of our fountains and comment on how much they want to bring them home. Its funny because I sure appreciate them so much more now. They are available in a plethora of sizes, colors and shapes. Just ask us to show you our large selections via our catalogs to order.
Next time you stop by In Every Corner, don’t forget to take notice of our wall fountains…..we’ll even take a lucky penny or two to throw into the water for good luck! Until
next time…….D.

Feel free to stop by our showroom anytime to ask questions and explore our home furnishing selections. You won’t be disappointed. Next time I will discuss and re-visit our textiles as they are also eco-friendly:-)) D…. Great Ideas for Bringing Global Style Home! Happy New Year To All!
Buffet Cabinets & Consoles make great dressers too!
Tuesday, December 15th, 2009
Did you know that a buffet or console also makes a great dresser for storing clothes too? We recently re-merchandised a buffet cabinet and instead of placing the obligatory serving bowls, trays, dishes, silverware, table linens, etc. we decided to place articles of clothing on the inner shelves and drawers. Any spaces that were exposed or open, we put a lovely tray of candles or a handsome set of storage boxes that complemented the cabinet. As customers came in, they saw how we had utilized the buffet cabinet in a different way and some have now adapted this idea. One customer commented on how it forced her to become very tidy and orderly as opposed to shoving and stuffing all her dresser drawers and not being able to find anything! Lol.. I wanted to share this with you because a furniture piece doesn’t necessarily have to be used for what it was originally intended. Another example is a rectangular dining table. If you have a large area, whether it be adjacent to a master bedroom or in another room or part of your home, you can utilize a dining table as a large desk. A nice sturdy pedestal table makes a great alternative to a standard desk. If you work out of your home, you can place all of your pertinent accoutrements atop the table: books, files, laptop, desktop computer, a nice lamp, photos, etc…whatever you like. For those who live in small spaces, the table can certainly double as your dining table as well especially when entertaining guests. The typical height of a desk is 30-32″ as is a dining table, so the application works quite well. The cabinet shown above is called the Augustine Tall Credenza and is available now and can be ordered at the store. This is a beautiful cabinet and exudes an Old World Charm which can be infused in most design styles. It is made of heavy solid Acacia wood and the front panels are made of solid iron carvings. The table shown below is called the Santiago Pedestal table. Imagine this as a desk? It is 78″ in length. There’s plenty of room to add a comfy leather high back desk chair or whatever you like.
At In Every Corner, we are here to give you these tips and ideas and to help you decide on how to effectively space plan your home. Whether you’re downsizing or expanding your living area, drop by our showroom, don’t be shy and ask us for designing ideas.:-)) Until next week….D.
Let’s have a Holiday Party Moroccan Style!
Sunday, December 6th, 2009
I recently had the pleasure of helping a close friend plan a holiday party. She didn’t just want the usual and common decorations that most people put out when hosting a holiday dinner party. Since Moroccan decor is colorful and festive, I suggested to her that she do a ”Night in Marrakech” theme and she was delighted. I told her that her guests would have a great time, the party would be a big hit and her friends would be talking about it the day after.
While in our store, In Every Corner, I recommended colorful Moroccan tea glasses with a serving tray and a silver teapot, several cool looking lanterns to create that exotic ambiance, layers of colorful beaded runners in vibrant tones of reds, oranges, magentas, and to serve the party food, a couple of tagines. A tagine is a Moroccan cooking vessel in the shape of a dome. There are ones that are used only for cooking and then the ones for serving. I recommended she get a couple of serving tagines as they are very colorful and would complement the rest of the theme. She
also got a hexagonal table unique to Moroccan design to place adjacent to her dining table to allow guests more room to place things on. I sketched for my friend a layout of how to decorate and where to place all the things she bought. I also gave her a couple of Moroccan recipes to try….I received a call from her the next morning and she was so elated! Everyone asked how she came up with the idea to do something out of the box and compliments were flowing all night. I’ll spare you all the details of what went on at the party, lol. The tagine dishes were a big hit too!

Anyway, the point I’m making here is we all have it in us to stand out and express our creativeness. Try new things be it a new way to throw a party as described above or reinvent oneself especially in these times. Always stay relevant and insightful.
As a reminder, don’t forget to browse our gallery site and head over to our online store at www.ineverycorneronline.com. We’re running a 20% OFF special all month on all purchases….Until next time, have a great week! D.
A Square/Rectangular or Round Dining Table?
Sunday, November 8th, 2009
I often get asked that question when customers come into the store to browse or when checking out our online store. Its all a matter of personal preference. A round table encourages a more intimate setting of conversation and sharing of food. A square or rectangular one sort of creates an “invisible” comfort boundary when guests take their seats because a guest is not sitting in between anyone else. The decision to choose between the two also depends on the shape and dimensions of your dining room and also what other pieces you plan on placing across it or adjacent to the table such as a buffet, hutch, or console. If your dining area is square, a round table is very complementary. Be sure to take measurements and remember to think about the type of chairs you plan on placing with the table. Also keep in mind how far the chairs will come out from the table. Be sure to allow for those dimensions too. My personal favorite type of round table is one with a pedestal base. This allows everyone around the table more leg room. I encourage customers to play around with different sizes of chairs. (I’ll talk about chairs next time.) The typical size of round dining tables start from 48″ in diameter. This size can accomodate up to 4 people. I would
recommend 60-78″ in diameter for up to 6.
A square or rectangular table works really well when you have a very large or unlimited open space. The typical square dining table is about 60-65″ square and can accomodate up to 6 people. A rectangular table is typically 78-108″ in length and can seat up to 8. If you want drama with a rectangular table, place it on the diagonal to give it movement and interest.
Here at In Every Corner, we offer a nice variety of tables. Feel free to browse our website and online store or if you’re in the Las Vegas area, don’t forget to stop in our store……by the way, my personal favorite table is a round one with an intricately handcarved pedestal base:-)) D.
