Happy Thanksgiving!
Sunday, November 22nd, 2009
Its hard to believe that Thanksgiving is upon us. This is the time of year when we start thinking of taking out our special serving dishes, trays and silverware. At In Every Corner, in addition to offering exquisite home furnishings, we also have in store beautiful ceramic platters and a variety of trays to place your favorite beverages on or to use when serving guests during the holiday season or anytime for that matter.
The month of December we’ll be featuring, “Embracing Joy Around The World”. Stop by and take a peek at some of the vignettes, or “corners” displaying how countries around the globe partake in their holidays and see the vibrant colors throughout the store. I know when I see festive colors everywhere it makes me happy and puts me in a very good mood:-))
This week, I will keep this short and sweet. We wish all of you and your loved ones a blessed Thanksgiving and by all means eat to your hearts content! You have my permission, lol!
As always, hugs to all and see you here next week……….D.
Ahhhh…..finally The Fall Season is Here!
Saturday, November 14th, 2009
I always wait all year long to finally have the cooler weather make an appearance as we’re in Las Vegas. For us when it finally cools into the 60’s in the daytime and into the 40’s at night we can finally break out our nice warm sweaters, leathers, and boots. This also means looking around your home and sprucing it up in anticipation of the coming Holidays. Its time to put away any traces of spring and summer colors and lighter fabrics in favor of deep, warmer tones that evoke Fall & Winter.
One of the easiest ways to change out the seasons is by replacing pillows on your sofa, adding colorful throws or shawls, or changing out table runners in favor of heavier and embellished ones. Here at In Every Corner, we have a plethora of seasonal pillows and tabletops to complete your decor needs. Check out our finds in store or online.
We have beautiful beaded and embroidered table runners in hues of burgundy, golds, deep greens, rusts, silvers, and sapphires. Pillows in warm tones, and Suzanis, the popular and centuries old art of hand embroidery and vibrant colors which hail from the Central Asian country of Uzbekistan and also Kilim
patterns from Turkey.
I also suggest picking up a few candles. We carry several upscale lines such as Seda France and Voluspa. Our pillar line, Kiran, is also a mainstay at our store. They are all handpoured and saturated with only the finest of essential oils and longer burn times. This month we’re featuring our new shipment of the Kiran line at 20% OFF! Some of the luscious fragrances for the season are Hazelnut & Coffee, Eucalyptus Vanilla & Vetiver ( my personal fave) and assorted Berries,Plum, and Cinnamon Clove.
Light these in your home whether company comes or not, and take delight in the aromas these candles give off…Until next time, Dorothy:-)
A Square/Rectangular or Round Dining Table?
Sunday, November 8th, 2009
I often get asked that question when customers come into the store to browse or when checking out our online store. Its all a matter of personal preference. A round table encourages a more intimate setting of conversation and sharing of food. A square or rectangular one sort of creates an “invisible” comfort boundary when guests take their seats because a guest is not sitting in between anyone else. The decision to choose between the two also depends on the shape and dimensions of your dining room and also what other pieces you plan on placing across it or adjacent to the table such as a buffet, hutch, or console. If your dining area is square, a round table is very complementary. Be sure to take measurements and remember to think about the type of chairs you plan on placing with the table. Also keep in mind how far the chairs will come out from the table. Be sure to allow for those dimensions too. My personal favorite type of round table is one with a pedestal base. This allows everyone around the table more leg room. I encourage customers to play around with different sizes of chairs. (I’ll talk about chairs next time.) The typical size of round dining tables start from 48″ in diameter. This size can accomodate up to 4 people. I would
recommend 60-78″ in diameter for up to 6.
A square or rectangular table works really well when you have a very large or unlimited open space. The typical square dining table is about 60-65″ square and can accomodate up to 6 people. A rectangular table is typically 78-108″ in length and can seat up to 8. If you want drama with a rectangular table, place it on the diagonal to give it movement and interest.
Here at In Every Corner, we offer a nice variety of tables. Feel free to browse our website and online store or if you’re in the Las Vegas area, don’t forget to stop in our store……by the way, my personal favorite table is a round one with an intricately handcarved pedestal base:-)) D.

Ornate Framed Crosses

I know this time of year can be quite hectic as we enter the month of December with holiday shopping to do, entertaining company, cooking, ( geez, we just got over turkey day, and some of us cooked, lol) and possibly traveling to see close family and friends out of town. This can make many of us feel overwhelmed and then the blues set in. Let’s remedy that and get you in a cheerful mood, ok? Take a few minutes and browse our gallery site. Enjoy the music and imagine yourself on an exotic excursion somewhere far away from the hustle and bustle of your everyday life. Perhaps our site will give you ideas for that future trip…) Don’t forget to look at our online store to see if we can make your shopping needs a bit less stressful. We offer free shipping (except for Hawaii & Alaska) and take 20% OFF all purchases using the
holiday code.
